John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Chris started out the conversation early on by stating If each person puts Christ first, everything will work out! Chris is a ‘small growth’ person. He doesn’t want Stuart to be a Palm Beach. The first thing we did was Prayer! We hadn’t prayed in the city of Stuart for 60 years! The reason? Because 60 years ago a White Pastor and a Black Pastor couldn’t agree on who would pray. This took multiple meetings to get this through. He stated 4 years ago it was messy… lights were dark, now with godly people in the environment it changed the environment. He asks the questions, Do government leaders recognize God as Sovereign Authority? Is Jesus the Sovereign Authority? If you have Christ and He is involved, we should want to be involved.
Before running for office, Chris tried to get Boomer-aged people to run for office, but no one would. It was the last day to register to run, he felt like God called him. Chris called these God Winks. Chris didn’t feel qualified to do the job but the Lord assured him that God qualifies the called.
Chris has a message to the Body of Christ.:
♦Care about who is governing
♦Pray hard for wisdom for decision makers, for God to get hold of them.
♦Get involved in campaigns.
Jonathan asked Chris if it was important for people to show up at the meetings. Chris answered, “Its good when Wisdom is in the room. But donating for those running helps to get people to get into those positions. Jesus told us to Overcome the world.
Chris encouraged all of us to vote. The Primary Elections begin in August with mail in ballots arriving prior to this. It is during the Primary Elections where the Local candidates are chosen. The General Election is in November. Tell you neighbors! Help out the good candidates!
