John Nelson & Jackie
Isaiah 38:16-17 (MSG) “O Master, these are the conditions in which people live, and yes, in these very conditions my spirit is still alive – fully recovered with a fresh infusion of life! It seems it was good for me to go through all those troubles. Throughout them all you held tight to my lifeline. You never let me tumble over the edge into nothing. But my sins you let go of, threw them over your shoulder – good riddance!
John Nelson has known Jackie for a few years. They share in common a testimony of God’s miraculous Healing Power. After a brief re-introduction of how the Lord healed John through heart surgeries, reiterating his testimony to lead us to what Jackie had to say, Jackie started by talking about her son Lucas who is now 6 years old. When Jackie learned she was pregnant, she went to Care Net where they not only confirmed her pregnancy, but she received an Ultra-Sound. Jackie actually saw her baby in her womb.
Care Net worked with Jackie throughout her pregnancy, and she wants you to know just how grateful she is and encourages you to attend one of the nights of the upcoming Care Net Banquet….FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS
When Jackie was 18 years old she started drinking – she “drank real hard for 17 years”. This in turn destroyed her liver to where she needed a transplant to live. But this didn’t actually stop her from drinking. She continued for a time still! Even up to the day Mayo Clinic was to test her for a new liver, she had consumed alcohol. After trials and disappointments, Mayo Clinic eventually turned her away because she was too great a failure risk. Shands Hospital received her, and did find a liver for her. Jackie finally realized that if she didn’t have the transplant and stop drinking her son would not have her around.
Jackie went into a recovery program for 3 months, and 2 ½ years ago, she underwent 4 surgeries (3 to prepare her body to receive the liver, with the final surgery the actual liver transplant). Jackie says recovery is very slow, but there is progress.
Jackie son was her strong motivation, he was there and took things very well! Jackie speaks of needing to wear a ‘bag’ to catch the bile, and how her son responded when the bag was gone!
Jackie had some final words to say to anyone that is listening and doubts their value. She says, “You are worth so much more than you give yourself credit for”. She says, “I have to make choices every day. It is not easy”. She still has weekly blood tests done to monitor her progress. She is currently attending AA meetings.

John Nelson wants to remind you – “There is help” If you need help, you’ve got to ask”.
