“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Stewart Feketa joined us today with an incredible testimony of how God worked in his life to renew his heart and mind – to love even the most unlovable.

Stewart began to work with Plant A Seed Ministries (Pastor Al Pigozzi) in 2009. Stewart says, within weeks of starting to pastor there, a unique person walked in the door, a trans man named Shirley. Stewart says he was very prejudiced about gays, and was asking God how he could pastor what he hated. He says, he was missing one important part… it’s not my place to judge. It’s my place to love.Stewart Feketa 02.26.25

Stewart goes on to say, Shirley walks in and says, “I hate Jesus, I hate you, I hate everything about this place”. Shirley was court ordered there. Stewart asks God, “How could I possibly love someone like this?

2-3 months later he goes in extra early one day. Shirley walks in and wants to talk with him. Shirley closes and locks the door. Tears started streaming from Shirley’s face and says, “Thank you for bringing me to Jesus. You have a heart.

Shirley had a Marine tattoo on his arm and began to tell the story of how he got to this point, beginning when he was 4 to 5 years old. And had been perpetually raped by his father and uncle.

Stewart’s heart started to warm up as Shirley told his story.

Some time later, the story continues – Stewart was driving down the road and saw Shirley and his bicycle on the side of the road. Stewart had some other men in his vehicle with him. Without regard to what the other men would think, Stewart stopped to give Shirley a ride to the bus stop……

This story is heart wrenching and also heartwarming. Please listen to the entire testimony on the WCNO website – On Demand link.
