“HOW TO USE MEDIA AND HOW IT INFLUENCES ALL OF US”

Alan Love has moved to Las Vegas, but the miles do not keep him from joining us for Prayer & Share. As a matter of fact, This is Alan’s 15th anniversary celebrating being on air with us for Prayer & Share. Many of you remember he was part of the Joe Martek Program. Alan will be joining us each day at 4:00 PM to share his thoughts about MEDIA.

• Alan gave us some interesting history about the beginning of Media. There was a rule that stations east of the Mississippi all started with ‘W’ while stations west of the Mississippi began with the letter ‘K’. But there were 2 exceptions – the one that Alan speaks of – The first radio station began Jan. 2, 1921 – KBKA in Pittsburg, PA.  Alan continues, the first Licensed Christian Station was in the mid-west – WBMI.

This station had significant impact  with Alan’s relationship with the Lord.  For 22 years, 1990 – 1912 Alan traveled to Chicago to attend legal conferences. He happened to hear Classical Music (which is one of Alan’s passions). So he continued to listen. The name of the program was Sound of Majesty with Greg Wheatly. What Alan discovered was that this program had Bible verses between the music.

It is interesting to think, WCNO is filled with Scriptures during programs bringing us the WORD OF GOD every day interspersed with a variety of music.

• Continuing from yesterday’s conversation: Today there are various kinds of media, Telephone, Television, Radio, and Internet. Speaking specifically of WCNO, he says its PRIMARY MISSION is to educate about the Lord. Education helps to raise your family in a Christ Centered way. WCNO has the ability to nurture others! It is easier today to bring people to the Lord through Radio. And, there is a new WCNO APP. Alan says, I live in an area that is really windy and now I don’t lose the station. The new App is doing wonderful!!

• Alan began his message about Education with Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.”  Then, reading an expository of this verse from an AI generated document that he researched online, he asked for David & Jonathan (who are both pastors) to comment on its explanation. It was found to be actually pretty good! Conclusion? The Bible is the guideline for God’s plan for living. Parents need to follow God’s guidance in bringing up their children.

• Today Alan reminisced about the days he was part of the Joe Martek program, and how Mindie Molina now has a program on WCNO to give you the financial advice of an expert and allow you to call in with your questions. Alan says it is important to be knowledgeable about how to manage your money. One way is to know just who you are working with. Before investing with anyone, Alan suggests you check out the business or individual on FINRA.org (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority website). Check out their history. Is it Biblical? Alan says there is a very good book that you can get on Amazon: The Word On Finances, by Larry Burkett.

• Continuing with the importance for education, Alan shared he was born with a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. As Alan grew, he had a limp. As he grew, he  realized that some people weren’t very kind, while others helped spur him on to success in school. It was because of one of these – his 5th Grade teacher that many years later was able to send a good report that later enabled Alan to attend College, then Law School. As Alan tells his stories, his main focus is to not just encourage you to move forward to your goals, but to give credit and thank the people who have helped you to reach your God given potential, and to thank the Lord.

• Alan wants to end his dialogue on the importance of Education with an Acronym: TIE. The T stands for Truth. The I stands for Integrity. The E is for Ethics. It is not hard to be godly if you protect yourself. Alan’s advice is to surround yourself with people of faith who know the truth and our divine Lord. He also states that the main purpose of education is to “solidify, teach and live those principles, and finalize the Gift of Salvation.”

• Touching on the Stock Market, there were 3 days of tumult. Then at 9:37 AM, President Trump tweeted out that it was time to buy! Alan talked about the tariffs being lowered to 10% for all the countries but China which is at 125%! What does the Bible say about the Stock Market? Well, the Bible speaks about money. We are not to be anxious or be stressed. We are to trust in the Lord. Put our faith in Him. Alan emphasizes it is up to us to obey the Lord.

• Alan shared a bit of his testimony today of how he came to know the Lord and how he got involved with WCNO. In 2009 while flying to Florida, Alan had a Bible with him. Looking out of the airplane window he said “I want to accept Jesus”. He then prayed to God for God to give him guidance to become a Messianic Jew. This came about after having read from Deuteronomy 28:9….. Alan moved to Port St Lucie.

While driving down US1 he saw a sign for WSTU radio station so he drove there and they offered him a position to do Volunteer reporting. Soon after, WSTU contracted with a TV station and no longer needed his services. Alan  then met Bryan Longworth owner of A Faster PC who suggested he go to Palm City to meet Tom Craton at WCNO. Tom said there was no place for Alan, so Alan drove there unannounced and Tom put him on air to tell his story. From That time on, Every Prayer & Share Alan was there from 2 – 6 PM with Tom. Alan says, “When Jonathan came, for some reason he kept me on.” Up to this very day, Alan is still joining us each day for Prayer & Share – 15 years later!

Listen in tomorrow at 4:00pm to hear the conclusion of Alan’s discussion!
