Christians know the history of Resurrection Sunday, The Cross, The Crucifixion, and The Resurrection of Jesus our Messiah. But how many know the Passover Story and why it is so important to us today! Rabbi Zamstein outlines the history through Scripture. God gives us the answer to the Passover in Exodus 12. Rabbi Zamstein speaks of the 10 plagues God afflicted upon Pharaoh and the land of Egypt and the Passover Lamb to save the Israelites from the 10th plague – death of the first born. He explains the Mezuzah on the doorposts from Deuteronomy 6:9 and 11:20. He explains the custom of Jewish families even today removing the Chametz (yeast) from the homes. This all ties into the Passover season and the Resurrection of our Lord and Messiah Yeshua.
Rabbi Zamstein says, “When we sit at the Seder table we have to think of ourselves sitting there 3500 years ago! What if the Christians imagined sitting at the Last Supper 2000 years ago.
Communion in the Church comes from the Seder that celebrates the Body & Blood of Christ. The Heart must be right. It is part of the purification process. Rabbi speaks of the Cross, as Jesus is being crucified, while He is dying – the crowd is there (you are there) yelling Crucify Him! While just days before, we were waving palm branches on the side of the road while Jesus road on a donkey through the street.
This is such a powerful story. In order to understand the crucifixion of Jesus, we must know the story of the Passover.
Rabbi Shared a bit of his own testimony – He was born in Israel, and his grandfather was a Holocaust survivor. They moved to the US when he was young. He liked the people he met in Chicago. Half were Jewish. He speaks of meeting 2 men he met that led him to attend some meetings, where he read Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22. Three things in these Scriptures only fit one Man! He says, I accepted the Lord in February 1974.
