Elaine Stevens - operation veterans homeownersOperation Veteran Homeownership (OVH) is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization formed by the Homelady, V. Elaine Stevens. She has been passionately on purpose for 28 years as a Veteran advocate. Her mission is to educate and empower 1000 Veterans to use their GI Bill benefit to realize the American Dream of Homeownership.

Before World War II, veterans of war were left on their own to figure out how to pay for their education, housing and job training when they returned to civilian life. This was a difficult feat, because college and homeownership were not attainable dreams for the average American back then. In order to insure the American vets were given access to opportunity, the GI Bill of Rights was created 75+ years ago. The GI Bill is considered one of the most significant pieces of federal legislation ever produced. It became known as the GI Bill of Rights because it helped veterans adjust to civilian life again by offering federal aid to help them buy homes, get jobs and pursue an education.

While living in the North Shore of Chicago, Elaine was the real estate agent who tithed 10% of her commissions to the Evanston Churches of her clients. Trained as an educator she held seminars to demystify the home buying process. The phone didn’t stop ringing for five years.

Returning to Florida, Elaine was directed to the Ft. Lauderdale Vet Center to speak to the Team Leader Bobby White. Bobby also the Commander of VFW Post 8195 in Carver Ranches at that time said, “In 25 years no one ever came in to educate and empower Veterans on how to use their COE (Certificate of Eligibility) to realize the American Dream of Homeownership.” Twenty years later the Home Lady’s track record of Veteran Homeownership Advocacy is established. Today’s mission is to help.

There are so many options for veterans to own their own home. With 100% financing, wherever  you want to live. You can receive the help needed to get VA Loan Ready, and perhaps have assistance with the closing costs! Elaine says, she is “Keeping America’s Promise to our Veterans.” And TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
