Debbie La Fountain is the Principal of Foundations Academy. Foundations Academy currently accepts children ages 3 months through 2nd Grade.
Debbie comes to this position with 40 years of experience in Education, with experience in various grade levels from Pre School through High School. On the practical side of enrolling your children in Foundations Academy, Florida allows school choices, and there is financial assistance available with 2 programs, the Set-Up Scholarships and the Foundations Academy School Scholarship. The requirements are that you must be a resident of Florida and you must produce the child’s birth certificate. Debbie says, In addition, if your child has special needs, is on the spectrum, perhaps behavioral, physical, transitional changes etc., we want to help them.
For the spiritual aspect of Christian education, Foundations Academy teaches the basic Bible doctrine. “Train up a child ….” – we are training the children. Jonathan asked Debbie, why send kids to Christian School when secular kids are there? Debbie responded, because when they go into the work place, they will encounter this and will be able to work and witness in this environment. Jonathan then asked, will my child get the same quality of education in a Christian school as in the secular? Debbie’s response was very positive, stating that the Curve is way above what public schools are using. We use the same tests, yet Christian schools are in the 80 percentile, where the secular schools are much lower, around the 30 percentile. At Foundations Academy, your children will feel safe and loved. They will be given truth and learn Godly principles.
Jonathan asked about security at the school, and the answer again was positive. There is security – the doors are locked, and visitors have to be buzzed in. There are security cameras inside and outside. Jonathan also asked about transportation. As of now, there is no transportation available, so it is the parent’s responsibility to bring their kids to school.
