BEGINNING THIS FRIDAY, July 11 at 4:00 you will be introduced to a new and engaging program – “FOLLOW HIS SANDALS”. Rev. Dave Boston joins the WCNO family, bringing Good, Practical Keys to building disciples and how to help others. This program will benefit everyone. Filled with Scriptures, this 30 minute program will motivate Christian brothers and sisters to read the Bible for themselves!
Jonathan asked Dave what brought him to this place in his life. Dave proceeds to tell a short story. When he was 17 years old, the Lord spoke to him and told him to go down to the corner and wait. It was 10:30 at night. Nothing was at the corner, and just as he was about to leave, this gentleman shows up who was a high school basketball star and a friend of his brother. I was an aspiring basketball player, so to get a chance to talk to him was great! I wanted to talk basketball, he was talking Bible! He invited me to come to a meeting at his home church which I did. The rest is history. This is where my walk began. The scriptures became alive… Love one another, Teach one another….
Dave realized that in some churches, people listen to the sermon but are never activated to do anything. Referring to Romans 12, Dave says Christians should walk more closely to Jesus and unleash the gifts, and churches should let people serve. A Disciple is someone who follows Jesus and asks what Jesus wants him to “do”… to love our God and to love our neighbor. Sometimes this means engaging with a person and finding what is going on.
Dave encourages us to get more committed to what Jesus wants us to do. What are the greater works?
Dave reminds us that the original apostles were not theologians. Yet they did what the Lord wanted them to do. When the believers grow, everyone grows.
