“So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met,and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God.For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ.”(2 Corinthians 9:12-13 NLT)
Pastor James began by saying “Thank you so much for allowing me to be here with you guys today This is my 1st time here, it is absolutely my first time here so it’s great to see what you guys are doing here and what you’re what you’re doing for our community, to be a voice out into our community and really more than our community – kind of this whole region.”
Pastor James shared a bit of his God story. He was raised in a Christ centered home, his father was a Pastor of a small Texas town of about 5000 people. When James was in 6th grade, he called his father into his bedroom and told him he wanted to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior. That was the moment in his life he made a personal relationship with Jesus. Middle school years were the foundation of all spiritual truth and scriptural truth and biblical truth of his life. It was in High School that he felt the calling to full-time ministry. But Pastor James says he ran from it. He was a ‘sports’ guy and pursued various sports in those High School years.
While in summer camp, after his Junior year, a speaker challenged the youth group to see if God was calling any of them. Pastor James says “I finally surrendered. I’ve been running and pushing that away”. He surrendered to that vocational call of Ministry.
After going back to his senior year of high school, he was successful in sports. Because of his sports record, a small college in Kansas gave him an offer to play sports. But that was not what God wanted for him.
Pastor James says “I bargained with God and I said, You know God, I will do this ministry thing later but first let me go do what I want to do.
That summer, he went back to camp and the camp speaker was the same one from the previous year. Pastor James says the speaker said to the group “some of you last year”, I’ll never forget this, “some of you last summer were here and you jumped out of the boat into some deep waters of commitment with God and you got back to school this year and you got a little scared so you swam back to shore where your feet could be on the ground”. James said “there were 300 kids at this camp. Who told him my story” . It was then that he made the decision to turn down the college in Kansas and enrolled in Bible College. He has been serving in full time ministry since then.
